A person in this position does the following:
- Inspects aerospace weapon systems components and supports equipment for structural integrity using nondestructive inspection methods.
- Interprets nondestructive inspection test results and provides information about defects to the repair center.
- Establishes radiation areas for radiographic operations; computes and monitors individual personal exposure areas for radiographic operations and monitors personnel exposure data.
- Performs nondestructive inspections on structures, components, and systems to detect flaws such as cracks, delamination, voids, processing defects, and heat damage using penetrant, eddy current, magnetic particle, radiographic, optical, and ultrasonic test equipment.
- Determines metallurgical information of components according to alloy, temper, conductivity, and associated factors and shall operate, maintain, and inspect nondestructive equipment; performs operator maintenance and service inspections on shop equipment and tools.
- Performs silver recovery functions. The Contractor shall handle and dispose of hazardous waste and materials.
Job Requirements
A person
in this position must be NAS410 level II or level III certified in each
of the following methods: radiography, eddy current, penetrant, magnetic
particle, and ultrasonic inspection methods.
