Grumman has openings for Aircraft Structures Mechanics with Non-Destructive
Testing Certifications to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals.
These position will be located in Jacksonville, FL with detachment locations
both CONUS and internationally. The selected candidate will troubleshoot,
repair and service P-3 aircraft structures, components and engine systems.
Conduct diagnosis of aircraft and systems malfunctions, performs maintenance,
disassembly, rework, repair, replacement, re-assembly or adjustment of various
aircraft systems and components in accordance with technical specifications and
engineering instructions. In addition to the aircraft structures mechanic
qualification the candidate shall be certified to set up and calibrate
nondestructive testing equipment, conduct tests to ensure quality or detect
discontinuities (defects) using NDT methods of inspection, establish techniques
for proper examination of objects under inspection, ensuring strict adherence
to safety regulations, apply testing criteria in accordance with applicable
specifications or standards and evaluate results, interpret radiographs,
cathode ray tube (CRT) or digital readouts, conductivity meters and visual
indicators, organize and report test results, perform specialized inspections.
Employee
shall maintain, inspect and repair U. S. Customs and Border Protection P-3
aircraft structures, systems and components including, but not limited to T-56
engines, 54H60-77 propellers, auxiliary power units, flight controls,
hydraulics, pneumatics, fuel systems, oxygen and mechanical components.
Candidate applies technical knowledge of airframe and power plant systems in
determining equipment malfunctions and applies technical expertise in restoring
equipment condition and or operation. This candidate also applies professional
technical expertise and guidance to solve complex problems by interpreting
technical data such as blueprints or manufacturer's manuals / specifications.
Work at this level requires a thoroughly comprehensive knowledge of P-3
aircraft propulsion systems / component troubleshooting and repair procedures
and replacement and/or repair of components. Candidate should possess a
thorough knowledge of P-3 aircraft fuel systems and repair, with ability to
determine functionality of non-complex electrical systems and ability to
provide technical support to maintenance management, propulsion / airframe
engineers and customers. Additional job duties are required but not limited to:
performs corrosion control, preflight and post-flight maintenance inspections,
fuel sampling, miscellaneous duties to service aircraft, tow and jack aircraft,
enters in the maintenance records description of the work performed and
verifies the work was performed satisfactorily, and other tasks as deemed
necessary. Candidate could be responsible for providing and receiving guidance
and technical expertise to lower and from higher level technicians throughout
all aircraft maintenance and/or modification efforts.

A High School diploma and a minimum of 3 years of multiengine transport category aircraft experience with proven ability to troubleshoot P-3 aircraft structure, mechanical, engine and propeller systems. IRRSP or State Card with 4 years NDT experience and demonstrated ability to effectively perform assigned NDT tasks and interpret results of inspections with Code shooting capabilities. Ability to obtain a FAA Airframe Powerplant (A P) certificate or be a highly qualified applicant who is able to provide documentation (FAA Form 8610-2) giving them the authorization to test OR obtain A P certificate within 180-days of hireAbility to set up and calibrate nondestructive testing equipment. Ability to conduct tests to ensure quality or detect discontinuities (defects) using NDT methods of inspection. Ability to establish techniques for proper examination of objects under inspection, ensuring strict adherence to safety regulations. Ability to apply testing criteria in accordance with applicable specifications or standards and evaluate results. Ability to interpret radiographs, cathode ray tube (CRT) or digital readouts, conductivity meters and visual indicators. Ability to organize and report test results. Ability to perform specialized inspections. Perform other job related tasks as assigned by management.
