Airfield Maintenance- Lead Job in Detroit, Michigan 48201 United States with Avflight Corporation
This position will oversee the Ground Keeping and Airport Maintenance at Detroit City Airport
Duties:
- Painting, repairing of woodwork, window glazing, replacement of fixtures, landscaping,
- lawn and field mowing, repair and replacement of fencing, repair and replacement of lighting fixtures, and janitorial services.
- Operation and servicing of, and making of minor repairs to cars, trucks, tractors, and
- related and specialized airport equipment for maintenance and/or operation of airport.
- Cleaning and maintenance of buildings and hangars, loading and unloading of materials
- on cars and trucks, mixing and pouring concrete, digging holes and ditches, and maintaining fences, runways, taxiways, and sodded areas, removal of snow, and sanding of Airport premises.
- Servicing and repairing lighting equipment, such as landing, runway, boundary, and
- beacon lights; servicing and repairing water, air and gas pumps and mowers.
- Servicing and repairing heating, ventilating and air conditioning equipment; cleaning and
- repairing fixtures and facilities in the Airport buildings; servicing Airport signs, parking lot equipment, and gates.
- Performance of one or more of the following under such supervision as may be necessary
- for the job: Painting, welding, plumbing work, electrical work, or carpentry necessary for maintenance of the Airport.
- Washing windows, pruning of shrubbery, cutting grass and trees, cleaning fuel pits, and
- performing similar custodial duties in and around Airport buildings and hangars.
- Observing and reporting airfield conditions, hazardous situations, and air traffic rule
- violations; assisting in security of Airport facilities to prevent unlawful entry by unauthorized persons; assisting in controlling ground traffic and the public by use of flags, tickets, and/or lighting.
- Blocking and tying down of aircraft as a protective measure in emergency situations; and,
- registration of aircraft parking.
- Inspecting buildings and hangars for safety hazards and reporting such general conditions
- to the General Manager and/or Operations Manager.
- Operating a two-way radio.
- Snow removal, snowplowing, and de-icing of runways and other areas of the Airport
- premises.
- Conducting and reporting of runway conditions.
- General maintenance and upkeep of all Airport emergency equipment and systems.
- Keeping the Snow Removal Equipment, Aircraft Hangers, and storage building in a clean and orderly condition.
- Inspecting periodically, according to schedule, all of the airport emergency equipment
- and systems.
- Check fluids and fuel level of city equipment, notify Bob of any maintenance items found.
Job Requirements
- Knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety precautions applicable to grounds keeping and maintenance work.
- Ability to follow oral instructions and read written instructions.
- Ability to use hand tools, including electronic equipment, and operate motorized equipment and vehicles such as cars, trucks or vans.
- Ability to communicate effectively.
- Ability to maintain records
- Must be 18 years or older
- High School diploma or GED equivalent,
- Must pass background check, pre-employment drug test, have valid Driver's license with a good driving record within company standards
- Must have authorization to work in the U.S.
- Must be willing to work outside in all types of weather and elevated noise levels within the airport environment

Physical Demands:
Job requires standing for long periods of time. Job requires walking for long periods of time on different types of terrain. Climbing and standing on step ladders. Must have physical dexterity sufficient to perform repetitive tasks and motions, including bending at the waist and knees, squatting, kneeling, crawling, twisting and sustaining those positions for extended amounts of time. Must have sufficient vision and ability to safely perform the essential functions of the position.
Work Environment:
