Description:Receives technical guidance, as required, from supervisor or higher-level technician, with any complex aircraft relevant tasks.
Use of hand tools, gauges, and testing equipment. Support includes disassembling and inspecting parts for wear, cracks, security, or other defects, and repairing or replacing defective parts on or off aircraft. Adjusts, repairs, or replaces structures/ systems and aircraft components, systems, or accessories. Applies comprehensive technical expertise to solve moderate to complex problems by interpreting technical documentation or manufacturers manuals. May be required to make entries in aircraft logs and records. Requires individual workload responsibility to maintain schedules on assigned projects from supervisor.
Area of work and typical roles include: Aircraft structural repair, and modification, Aircraft structure teardown and evaluation, incorporate ECP’s, Technical directives, ASAMS, ASB’s, and CSN’s, validate and verify retrofit upgrades and administer training to customers (OJT).
Become familiar with and support the organizations Quality policy and Quality objectives. Self inspect work prior to requesting final quality inspection.
Complies with EHS policy and applicable regulatory rules and requirements. Report immediately to supervision, conditions or practices that are either unsafe or that may adversely impact the environment.
Perform other duties as requested to support overall contract effort or customer Aviation maintenance support.
Job Requirements
Basic Qualifications:Applicant must be able to perform a variety of operations such as part fabrication, removal and installation of Frames, Beams, skins, and composite structures. The airframe technician will also possess knowledge of trimming, framing, riveting, drilling and reaming. Measures parts with micrometers and calipers to verify dimensions. May modify incomplete and complete assemblies to incorporate changes to structure. Must be able to interpret technical drawings and blueprints and follow Special Service Instructions (SSI’s) as required to retrofit airframe structures. Must possess a working knowledge of Maintenance Information Systems such as IETM, IADS, and aircraft forms documentation.
Must have experience with composite repair specifically reinforced graphite carbon fiber to include wet layup, structural filled panel repair and densification processes.
Must be knowledgeable of Tool control, FOD, Supply, HAZMAT, Quality procedures and basic Flight Line operations.
High School diploma, or equivalent experience/combined education, with additional technical training equivalent to a technical Associate degree and/or demonstrated ability to perform assigned preventive and demand maintenance tasks and 5 Years of experience.
Desired Skills:Active current secret clearance
Min 5yrs experience in aircraft structural repair.
Must have composite repair experience.
53K experience preferred
AP preferred
Prior structural and composite work experience on Sikorsky Aircraft standard structural repair manual practices preferred.
