The Fixed Wing Mechanic organizes and assigns work and inspections on company aircraft. They will prioritize work on company aircraft, general aviation and maintain aircraft records and repair station work orders. This position reports to the Lead Mechanic.
Responsibilities- Ensures aircraft is maintained in an airworthy condition
- Ensures aircraft and work areas are maintained to company standards of cleanliness and appearance
- Coordinates with Shop Lead, Shop Supervisor, Director of Maintenance or his designee to ensure timely acquisition of parts and tooling
- Ensures all maintenance records are accurate and in accordance with applicable FARs and company policies
- Ensures company maintenance records are submitted to the principal business office in a timely manner
- Orders parts and supplies sufficient to facilitate proper repairs
- Ensures all used core parts, unneeded new parts, and support equipment is returned to the proper departments in a timely manner
- Attends maintenance meetings
- Performs other duties as assigned by the Shop Lead, Shop Supervisor, Regional Maintenance Manager or Director of Maintenance or his designee
- Maintain harmonious and cooperative relations with the program members, other company members, patients and guests
- Maintains confidentiality of information deemed confidential
- Communicates effectively with pilot and medical teams
Job Requirements
- Must have had FAA Airframe and Powerplant certificate as prescribed by FAR 65 for two years
- High school diploma or GED
- Must meet recent experience requirement of FAR 65.83
- At least 5 years of experience maintaining and troubleshooting aircraft avionics systems
- Must have a valid driver's license
- Ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams to facilitate troubleshooting and repair
- Able to utilize maintenance manuals, wiring diagrams, and IPC's
- Excellent Communication and interpersonal skills
Preferences:- Experience preferred with Garmin 400/500 gps systems, G1000, Collins pro-line, or equivalent systems
- Factory or equivalent training on the assigned make and model aircraft preferred
Minimum Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Preferred:- Sound judgment and objectivity in decision-making
- In-depth understanding of avionics and instrument practices, processes and troubleshooting skills.
