Requisition 23054Location: Denver, CO Denver , 80249 , United States (US)Position Purpose:The Controller is responsible for the accuracy and completeness of month end financial reports and for the efficient, accurate and timely operation of the computer based accounting system.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
- Supervises or prepares the monthly closing process for the computer based accounting system.
- Supervises the general ledger and payroll employees and ensures the accurate and timely completion of their assigned duties.
- Prepares indirect cost proposals including provisional billing rate proposals, final year-end incurred cost proposals, and cost impact proposals for submission to the cognizant government office.
- Prepares facility and fringe budgets for indirect rate calculations at year end and updates as needed during the year.
- Provides audit support to auditors auditing areas of responsibility, including but not limited to: financial statement audits, incurred cost proposals, provisional billing rate proposals, fringe and facility costs for indirect rates for new business and Engineering Change Proposals/Contract Change Proposals (ECP/CCP), Cost Accounting Standard audits, and Accounting System reviews.
- Assists in providing financial approval for expenses charged to indirect and balance sheet accounts.
- Reviews and approves account reconciliations prepared by other accounting personnel.
- Maintains the allocations processes within the computer based accounting system.
- Assists in the establishment of accounting system standards and policies and provides direction regarding standards and policies to department personnel.
- Prepares monthly variance reports with explanations.
- Prepares or reviews monthly health insurance reconciliation and check requests.
- Reviews and reports on monthly actual vs budgeted indirect costs and variances.
- Maintains accounts, organizations, and links within the computer based accounting system.
- Assists in the preparation of indirect rate backup for use in new business, ECP and CCP proposals. Maintains accurate, complete and auditable supporting information for the rate computations.
- Prepares ad hoc computer reports.
Knowledge, Skills and Ability:
- Expert knowledge of Excel.
- Expert knowledge of accounting/analysis skills.
- Solid knowledge of managerial/supervisory skills.
- Basic knowledge of Windows applications.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, tasks and schedules.
- Ability to fluently read, write, speak and understand English.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), Cost Accounting Standards (CAS), Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR), and the Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation Supplement (DFARS.
- Expert knowledge of Deltek Costpoint a plus
Education and Formal Training:Undergraduate degree in Accounting or related field; or four years combination of education, experience, and training, in addition to what is listed below.
Experience:
Eight to nine years of progressive development within the accounting field with an emphasis in general ledger and government contract job cost accounting.
Salary Range: $134,866 - $202,300
