Role Overview
This position is for an Established Audit / Controls professional. Inspects account books and accounting systems for accuracy, efficiency, effectiveness, and use of accepted accounting principles to record transactions. Identifies control weaknesses and opportunities for improvement.Maintains complete and accurate audit documentation. Performs write-up of audit issues.
Primary Responsibilities:
• Examines accounting records and process documentation in accordance with assigned work program sections (increasingly difficult but not complex) to ensure proper recording of transactions, internal controls and for general compliance with applicable laws, agreements, and policies.
• Audits and provides timely alerts to the audit lead on the identification of potential audit issues.
• Collaborates with the audit team on potential solutions to, and recommendations for, audit findings.
• Works to ensure all established metrics and timelines are met.
• Provides an independent and objective assessment of the effectiveness and efficiency of the corporations internal control structure.
• Uses a systematic, disciplined risk assessment approach to evaluate and improve the effectiveness of control and governance processes, including the evaluation of reliability of financial reporting, IT controls, deterring and detecting fraud, and compliance with laws and regulations.
• Offers recommendations for weaknesses in internal controls and verifies compliance with laws, regulations, and requirements of government programs.
